It is time once again to ask the most important question to gamers when it comes to their hobby this weekend: Whatcha’ Playin’?
Whew, what a few weeks we’ve been having for games, and what a couple of weeks to come! I’ve bought too many games, more than I can play, and am currently drowning in them. Still, I couldn’t be more thrilled to have so many awesome games to play.
Help, I keep making irresponsible purchasing decisions.
Yokai Watch 3
My brother is the biggest fan of this series I’ve ever met and his enthusiasm for this release has me convinced I need to pick it up. I really enjoyed what I played of the first one outside of a few issues, and I’m really digging the Final Fantasy crossover Yokai in this one.
For those of you who have never played the games before think a Pokemon game if Game Freak lost their minds a little, beefed up the plot, had wonderfully realized real world-ish settings, and featured Pokemon that exist to make people spend money and pee.
Yeah, it is as great as it sounds.
Kingdom Hearts 3
I don’t get an immense amount of time to play, so it is probably isn’t a surprise I’m still working on this game. I’m currently in the Monster Inc world with that horrid abomination that is Monster Inc Goofy, and I’m still loving every minute of the game. My daughter has asked me to wait on her to watch me several times, so I’m not making the progress I’d like. This one is going to take a bit.
People that know me knew that I was incredibly excited for this game and I’m having a great time with it. It isn’t a perfect game, but it is as close to Advance Wars as we are likely to come for a long time. Wargroove has a fantastic crew of playable characters, charm for days, and so much content I’ll be working on it for a very long time.
EA dropped this on us as a big surprise this week and it is safe to say it has been a success in terms of player base so far. Whether they can make money off of it is anyone’s guess–the cosmetic only stuff you can purchase just isn’t that great so far.
I’m absolutely horrible at the game, but it is actually a really good game. It certainly cashes in on that Battle Royale experience, but does it in unique ways. You have a three person squad with heroes that echo something like Overwatch, dying isn’t the end as you can be revived by teammates, and even if you die completely if a teammate gets your tag back to a respawn center you can come back to life. The gunplay feels incredibly good, and the whole experience feels like a AAA shooter that you get to play for free, with no real restrictions that I’ve encountered.
Now excuse me while I go get massacred again really quick.
So what are you playing this weekend? Will you be teleporting around the world of Apex Legends with Wraith, or will you be taking out enemies with Ceasar–the best of good, good boys? Let us know in the comments below, and as always, have a great weekend!
